"When sketching up an idea for the vision I have for the final product, I have to think backwards. When carving a block, everything must be a mirror image of my vision of the final product."
Woodblock + carving tools + finger injuries = happiness. This might sound like garbled fortune-cookie-esque nonsense to us, but to Sunni it perfectly describes her rediscovery of, and subsequent love affair with, block print-making. She first dabbled in the craft while studying Fine Arts in college, and rekindled her passion when she wanted to make multiple copies of cards she'd designed. And because every print is hand or etch pressed, each one is unique, which is what Sunni loves most about block printing. Oh! She carves those blocks, too. And while she may hurt a finger or two, rest assured, no digital manipulator device will be used or harmed in the process.
