“My pieces are not the typical brown and blue pottery that people are used to seeing. Being a transplant from the Midwest to the South, I create a sense of nostalgia for a lost time and place.”
If you had a schweet vintage bike, would you ride more? If you had a killer farmer’s market bag, would you fill it more? If you had an amazing berry bowl, would you eat more fruit? Um, of course you would. That’s the idea behind the beautiful and functional ceramics at Six Milch Cows. Julie makes one-of-a-kind red earthenware pieces that are so utilitarian that they inspire everyday use—and spontaneous celebration. Her designs sit at the intersection of folksy nostalgia (pretty birds, old wallpaper details) and a modern, contemporary style (simple designs, asymmetry). Bowl full o’ cherries for breakfast? Don’t mind if I do.
