about Anca Gray

"I expose the life and history contained in discarded vintage books, antique lace and doilies, kitchen scraps and other assorted bits of found objects."

Although losing an architecture job might seem like a devastating occurrence – for Anca? It was more of a happy happening. She recalls being "lucky enough" to lose her job because it allowed her to start painting full time. And she's certainly taken advantage of the opportunity. Anca processes collected fragments, to form large, involved abstract paintings and mixed media assemblages. Her favorites demonstrate restraint, vulnerability and strength. Although many have taken notice, Anca's most flattered by the admiration of her friend's young daughters who are insisting on making art just like her. show more
