"My work goes through an earthy, raw, and imperfect process, but through work of the hand, is made beautiful."
It’s hard not to get fired up about the gorgeously raw, one-of-a-kind jewelry crafted by Andie Ashe. After all, the finished product involves a 12-hour bake in the kiln. Shaped by the ancient art of lost wax casting, her modern designs begin with a hand-carved wax mold that’s plastered and fired for half a day. Once set, Andie pours molten hot metal—either silver or bronze—into the mold. What happens next is a mystery. A cooled sculptural form emerges, defined by imperfections of the hand that give each piece has its own unique character. Totally worth braving the heat for.< less
