" While there are wonderful illustrations of cities out in the market, I provide a uniquely detailed overview–it is street level view of the actual buildings that make up the city."
Under Beth’s “Things I Love” column, one might find: photography, printmaking, and (maybe most importantly) Portland. It’s the urban culture, capturing the elements that reflect a city’s personality--the architecture, signage, public art, even random locked-up bikes--that she conveys in her pictures. “I feel individual photos of these aspects don’t provide a full view of the culture that I want to convey,” Beth explains. She mashes and manipulates those photos, creating composites that give a fully picture and possibly more meaning. And if nothing else, it’s original artwork that only a city like Portland could claim…. and a lover of Portland (like Beth… and, okay, millions of others) can appreciate. < less
