"I've been making books since college––when I was required to have bound blank books for my art courses but there weren't any local stores that sold them."
Susan's always been rather bookish––she made her own bound notebooks in college, as well as the occasional journal or two for a friend. But it wasn't until after she made the switch from hardcover to leather that Susan was totally hooked (in a good way). In fact, hand-picking the pieces of leather for each of the sturdy journals and notebooks is now her favorite part of the process. The journals are rugged and earthy, which we attribute to Susan's keen eye for unique markings and character-filled hides. They're also drool-proof––which we really can't explain, but we appreciate nonetheless.< less
