Wearables Artist
Duboce Triangle, San Francisco

"My mother grew up making things by hand, and she passed those skills onto me. I grew up seeing the value in creating something that can be both useful and beautiful."

For Maddy, the most important part of a handmade business is creativity––it's not enough to merely make the items by hand as opposed to machine. Instead, she places importance on coming up with her own designs, patterns that she's built from the first stitch onward. She works hard to incorporate modern styles, meshing them delightfully with traditional knitting techniques to create what she's dubbed "wearable art"––items that are classic as well as classy. After all, no one said that useful winter accessories had to look useful, or particularly wintry, for that matter.
