about Gone To Pot

"The most challenging aspect is having the patience to wait until the kiln has cooled down before I can open it. It's always a little like Christmas morning."

Most kids outgrow playing in dirt––but not Susan. She's been attracted to clay since she was a young'un, and loves transforming what is essentially dirt into something functional and beautiful. (Sounds like magic to us.) Her crowning achievement? A line of gleaming, strikingly realistic, porcelain paintbrushes––they're cast, glazed and fired up in the kiln before being coated with a glimmering coat of real, 22k gold. And when she's not painting paintbrushes, Susan can be found in her studio––making digital collages and screenprinting patterns onto clay. Curiosity? That's a good thing. show more
