“At first I felt badly about cutting up books, but the ones I use are collected from bins that are destined for the pulp grinder. I love that I can give them further life by sharing them with people who also love old books!"
As a book lover, Jennifer took issue with the donation pile, especially the ones in line to be destroyed. She thought it a shame to leave them to rot, and so she found an ingenious way to give new life to old books: by turning them into wearable works of art. It was the dictionaries in particular that caught her eye—a paper dictionary is obsolete in the modern era of handheld technology. Each of her handcrafted necklaces is made with a clipping from a rescued vintage dictionary, and carries a romantic little piece of those bygone days where we actually had to thumb through pages to find a definition.< less
