"My mom had all her jewelry stolen and I wanted to give her something personal to get her collection started back up. I made her the first embroidered wood necklace. I find lots of materials to work with, come up with a design, finish it up, and wear it out or give it to a friend to see what response it gets. And then I make more."
"Surprising, creative, inspiring, and fun" — that's how Sarah Keys describes her city, but we think those words do a pretty good job defining Sarah's own thread-on-wood work. After first taking a needle, thread, and drill to wood to replenish her mother's stolen jewelry collection, Sarah started designing and crafting her signature embroidered wooden jewelry as Ibby & Rufus, creating uncommon, hand-stitched pieces that are wholly unique from each other. < less
