Globe re-imaginer
San Rafael, CA

“I use vintage globes and maps and recycled source materials to create ‘new worlds.’ These whimsical worlds are decoupaged by hand with recycled materials so that each work of art is a one-of-a-kind, custom creation.”

Wendy always had an affinity for unusual canvases. (Her previous work can be found on bathroom scales and toilet seats. Seriously.) When she came across a delightful vintage globe at a flea market, she didn’t just see a world before Google maps, she saw her next canvas. Now Wendy has created a whole line of imagined worlds using old maps, vintage globes and recycled materials that she decoupages by hand with whimsical designs. And she’s definitely created some worldwide wonder with her work, which has been featured on CNN, NPR, Travel + Leisure and more. Her most interesting commission to date: A five-foot globe for the Smithsonian.
