Growing up in the Wasatch mountains, Erik got an early start in the world of natural art. And now, he produces prints of tree rings from the fallen trees he finds in the mountains. Erik cuts a section off and then sands its surface, burning and scraping the wood until it's ready to be inked and printed. He's drawn in particular to the stories that each tree holds — a history of its surrounding geography, a record of droughts or heavy rain or maybe even small holes where ants or termites burrowed. Facts made even cooler by the fact that some of the trees are well over a hundred years old.< less
