“Our pieces are produced by hand in Nepal by a group of artisans who are really good at what they do. They are keeping indigenous processes alive and also making an above fair-trade wage.”

Wandering through the markets in Kathmandu, you can’t help but notice that there’s something going on with felt in Nepal. In fact, it’s the oldest textile known to man—and the process of hand-making it is still quite alive and well in that beautiful country. So when Tanja decided that she wanted to empower female artisans by employing them to create their minimal, honestly designed bags, Nepal was the perfect fit. And so was felt. They’re simultaneously keeping an indigenous process alive—and also helping to lift skilled makers out of poverty.
