“At R. Riveter, we are inspired by the women who have come before us and truly exemplify the ‘We Can Do It’ attitude.”

As military spouses, Lisa and Cameron both came up against a particular set of challenges. Military families relocate every 2.9 years, often leaving them with fragmented resumes. So Cameron’s master of architecture degree and Lisa’s MBA were becoming less and less relevant. They decided to empower themselves—and other military spouses in their situation—by creating a line of stunning bags that can be handmade wherever life took them. In a converted attic outside of a Georgia base, they laid the groundwork for the company with a 45-year-old, 75-pound Consew industrial sewing machine. Now, they have an entire line of duffle bags, clutches and purses, each handmade by a military spouse, from the dying of the leather to the assembling of the bag. And it is all the more appropriate that they use upcycled military fabrics, like shelter materials and wool blankets, to create their classic, well-made goods.
