“Using paper means that there are virtually no limitations to what I can create. If I need a certain color, I can paint the paper myself. I love that I can turn something as plain as paper into something to wear everyday.”

A man walks by Sarah’s shop at a maker fair and asks, “Do you make all of these ceramic pieces yourself?” She answers, “No, but I make all of these paper jewelry pieces myself.” He slips on his glasses to do a double take. That’s pretty much how it goes for this maker, who started folding origami smaller and smaller—before being inspired to turn her intricate little creations into something more useful: a pair of earrings. That gave way to a whole line of colorful jewelry, made with paper then carefully finished for durability. Her most important tool? A pair of tweezers, of course.
