"The most exciting part about my process is trying to figure out how to use traditional textiles in a new way. "
Nasozi’s sense of adventure in textiles cannot be contained to a single continent or era. She reimagines traditional patterns and processes, exploring ways to present them in a modern, unexpected fashion. It’s no wonder, then, why she favors painting on mudcloth (Bogolon) imported from Mali with abstract geometric designs inspired by the Rwenzori mountains (Mountains of the Moon) of East Africa's Great Lakes region, or the vast number of pyramids in Meroë, Sudan. Nasozi’s unique name reflects her Ugandan heritage and means “something to look up to in praise of.” Her creative efforts to celebrate and preserve African culture undoubtedly fulfill that promise.< less
