45% Off Actor's Express
The summary: Actor’s Express has been called "the city's most vital theatrical venue" (Creative Loafing) and, as such, it’s doing its part to fill an important niche in Atlanta's arts community. High quality. Daring. And, quite possibly the 'gutsiest' theatre in the city. The crew here at Actor's Express is proud to strengthen the community with such a dialogue, as many of Atlanta's publications (AJC, Creative Loafing, Intown Atlanta, etc.) cite them as having some of the most noteworthy plays in Atlanta of the last year.
Located on Atlanta’s Westside in the King Plow Arts Center (which itself is a pretty curious destination -- an old plow factory, circa 1890, that’s recently been transformed into a burgeoning arts center), Actor’s Express is an intimate space with seating enough for roughly 175 folks.
Now here, folks, is where the Scoutmobbery gets really interesting. Chances are, you might remember a little discount we had a couple weeks ago for Octane, conveniently located on the Westside right around the corner from Actor's Express. So, if you’re up for making a Scoutmob night of it, you could grab some pre-show Chimays... or end the night with some late lattes and post-show discussion. The Scoutmob ability to rule the city is all in your hands now, my friends. Impress your date. Make friends jealous. Tell strangers all about your money-saving prowess. Thank us later.
Play Synopsis: “Good Boys & True” was written by one of the writers of HBO’s 'Big Love (Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa). Directed by Melissa Foulger, the story follows a group of boys from St. Joe’s Prep School in the 1980s; the kids are clean cut, well bred, Ivy League-bound – and quite, well..., promiscuous. When a scandal involving one little videotape threatens to grow beyond whispers and engulf the entire school, the ugly underpinnings of an elite machine threaten to give way. As one mother struggles to glean fact from fiction, she finds herself face to face with truths about her perfect son and their privileged existence.
What are audiences saying about Good Boys and True??
“Tess Malis Kincaid is brilliant. Louis Gregory is riveting. Brent Rose is heartbreaking. Ms. Melich and Mr. Ellsworth have nary a false moment. Ashleigh Hoppe, as the victimized Cheryl, is a real discovery.” – Atlanta INtown
“If you care about finely written and superbly performed drama, you really must see Good Boys & True.” – Atlanta INtown
“Kincaid's wrenching performance makes Elizabeth something of a tragic heroine.” – Creative Loafing
“Aguirre-Sacasa's writing shows pop culture savvy and a gift for construction, but Good Boys & True is by far the best of his scripts produced in Atlanta.” – Creative Loafing
“The acting is first rate.” – Publishers Feature Service
Be sure to read the fine print as your Scoutmob discount is actually waiting for you online.
We hope you enjoy the show!
