The Summary: In the still formative Glenwood Park, The Shed has received some pretty rave reviews from all sorts of foodies. Especially since Chef Gummere came into the picture in October ’08; he’s developed an expansive ‘American Bistro’ menu of seasonally-rotating options, perfect for both adventurous eaters and more traditional types. Owner Cindy Shera has developed a dining experience that’s a go-to for those in the Glenwood 'hood... and a perfect destination restaurant (relatively) for the rest of Atlanta.

Full Story: How do you define comfort food? Do you go for cheese fries? A mouthful of meatloaf and mashed ‘taters? Or how ‘bout some offals? More specifically -- how would you like the heart of a chicken?

That’s what Lance Gummere, chef of The Shed, would prefer; it’s been that way since he was a kid. “My mother taught me how to eat the heart when I was very little,” he says, “it’s been my favorite part of the chicken ever since.”

For the adventurous eaters among us, this bizzare offal prepared as uber-comfort food will be a favorite new dish at what might just become your new favorite restaurant. Gummere prepares it over toasted brioche with a fried egg, and claims it took an “epic level of begging their meat purveyors” to find a source to provide it. Those who understand the delicacy can certainly appreciate his efforts here.

But don’t think The Shed is only for those with bold appetites and fat wallets -- the menu has quite a range of comfort food AND prices... plenty of ways for any taste to enjoy the farm-to-table experience. Gummere spent many years with Shaun Doty (of Shaun’s), so he’s developed quite an impressive range on his menu. Pan-seared North Carolina Trout with Fried Green Tomatoes. Fish and Chips. Crispy Pork Belly with Polenta. And how ‘bout a Housemade Ding Dong for dessert? If you can’t find some level of stress-relieving, belly-warming food here, you’re probably just better off eating a Stouffer’s at home on your sofa.

And with a Scoutmob-style 50% off as your discount? It's a whole new level of “comfortable” dining at The Shed.
