The Lucky Exchange (Moreland Ave)
Scout Notes: That feeling you get when, after sifting through racks and racks of vintage, you finally come upon The One? That one Mad Men pencil skirt or luminescent disco shirt that looks and feels like it was made for you (a few decades ago)? Call it luck, call it fate, call it sartorial serendipity... or just call it something that happens on the reg at Lucky Exchange. It's one of my personal favorite spots to stop in and casually browse (okay, go over the racks with a fine-tooth comb) for vintage threads and funky accessories, and I know I'm not the only one who beelines it to Moreland when in need of a retro wardrobe refresh.
While many a vintage shop requires hours of picking through musty duds and shoulder pads, Lucky Exchange keeps their selection fresh, wearable, and mustiness-free. And diverse, too: you could feasibly walk out of Lucky with an entire outfit made up of pieces from different decades and not look like a misguided Olsen twin, which is comforting. Owners Sheri and Kelly are super-selective when it comes to picking the store's merchandise, aiming for an eclectic mix of clothing where anyone can find something to wear. They've even begun to do a few small improvements on certain garments — shortening the hem on an otherwise awesome floor-length dress, for example. With racks full of handpicked, high-quality vintage threads, the Lucky Exchange makes it pretty easy to find that perfect outfit... and, thanks to the fantastic selection, luck has nothing to do with it.
