50% Off Cypress Street Pint and Plate
The Scoop: You may never find it unless you're looking for it. Cypress Street Pint & Plate is tucked behind the towering Biltmore building on West Peachtree. But that's exactly what makes this nook feel so unique. A neighborhood bar with a modern vibe and extensive front patio (complete with fire pit), regulars here rave about the friendly people who serve up their beers and grub. And if you're ever going to get your hands on a Sublime glazed doughnut burger with bacon and cheese, this would be the place...
The Full Story: Once upon a trendy Midtown restaurant, there lived a little nook named Toast. And given it’s hidden location and the fierce competition from similar concepts nearby, Toast could only do so much to stay afloat. Ultimately, it got lost in another restaurant shuffle and, while we always hate to hear a restaurant story end that way, what came along to take its place might’ve been what Midtown needed all along. Cypress Street Pint & Plate, a neighborhood bar, seems to fit right in here -- doing its part to diversify the Midtown restaurant and bar scene. Here you’ll find a cozy joint where the drinks are always cold (never frilly), the food’s always hot (not pretentious) and the bar staff always knows your name (or, well... at least they always try).

When I finally found this place (note to map users: the location is actually a block back from the given address, on Cypress directly behind the Biltmore), I felt like I’d been missing out on a well-kept Midtown secret. Because while Cypress Street is definitely a neighborhood joint, it’s certainly not a dive. The space is sleek and modern with warm lighting and oak-paneled ceilings. It’s the perfect hybrid of modern and casual, old-school and trendy. And then there’s that patio... complete with fire pit. I got there just in time for the beginning of a Friday happy hour and the place was already buzzing; it felt like everyone here already knew each other. But maybe that had something to do with the fact I was following around Billy (the owner) who seems to know just about every person here. As he charmed everyone with animated stories and goofball gestures, you realize why folks become regulars at Cypress Street. Sure, the food is great and the beer is cold, but it’s really all about the...
PEOPLE
If there’s anything you hear more about this place, it’s that the staff goes out of their way to be those quintessential bartenders. The ones who remember your name and your usual order after a few visits, who keep you entertained and listen to your work woes and dating drags, who know how to make a good, stiff drink when the time calls for it.
MENU
As for grub, their menu is well-done pub fare - burgers, wings, nachos, crispy Corn Puppies, etc. Nothing is overpriced, nothing too outrageous. Unless, of course you consider a donut cheeseburger to be outrageous. But regulars swear by Cypress Street's Sublime Burger - a 1/2-lb. angus beef burger with cheddar cheese nestled between a local favorite Sublime glazed doughnut. Then it’s topped with applewood smoked bacon. (Because, come on, if you’re gonna do a donut burger, you might as do it all the way.) And if this were the thing to cause my ultimate demise, I think I could go out happy.
So come on in, grab a pint, and introduce yourself. Soon enough, you’ll be another part of the Cypress family tradition.
