Well, would you look at that: your very first Scoutmob deal is here. And it’s good for 50% off a meal at Murphy’s. Yes, THAT Murphy’s -- the hub of Virginia-Highland Murphy’s. The one with mobs of weekend brunchers teeming out its doors. You know the place? Oh, good. We thought you might.
Since you’ve heard of it, you probably know about their brunch menu -- maybe their bakery and Bonzo Cakes (mmm, Bonzo Cakes). But Tom Murphy also has another tidbit he thought you should know about his menu: “We may not be considered a seafood restaurant, but our seafood is the freshest in town.” Definitely worth noting, as their brand new dinner menu includes a BBQ salmon dish I’m currently eyeballing.
Tom also adds, “This month, we brought back an old tradition of ‘Big Murphy Mondays’: giant fresh-baked spuds with butter fondue, heaps of veggies, plus your choice of soup or salad for $10. It’s like our version of the Irish six-pack... though ours would be with wine.”
Sounds like a new spin on Murphy’s that this scout could appreciate.

Since it’s the first day of deals and some of you may still be thinking, “This Scoutmob thing sounds kinda sketchy/complicated/too good to be true.” Well, for those of you skeptics, we’ve put together some Scoutmob basics.
Chapter One: Claiming Your Scoutmob Deal
You read the daily email, you see an offer you like, you send the deal-text to your cell for free. You have 24 hours to do so (unless you have an iPhone, which we can explain later). By doing this, you’re merely claiming it for later use; you’ll never have to pay for anything upfront. Think of it as a virtual pinky swear; the payment part only comes when you decide to redeem the deal. Which brings us to:
Chapter Two: Using Your Scoutmob Deal
For this lesson, we’ll use the Murphy’s deal as our example. One random Monday evening, you decide you’d like to eat at Murphy’s. You remember that Scoutmob deal sitting on your phone. You go in, order that behemoth baked potato you’d read about, enjoy your meal, and when it comes time to pay, you show your server that magical text message for 50% off your bill. Pretty sweet, right? But before you get all greedy, remember these deals are only one per person and some come with fine print restrictions, so be sure to check those first.
Chapter Three: After Deal and Beyond
So what if the three month expiration date has already passed and you didn’t use your deal? Well, that would just be sad. But hey, it’s okay because you never paid to claim the deal in the first place. Hopefully, you’ll have more current Scoutmob deals you can take advantage of... then it won’t feel like such a letdown.
