Pizza, American (New)
A sleek, modern playground for technophiles, design geeks, and pizza-loving chowhounds alike.Let me just go ahead and put this out there: dining at Do (as in, "dough") is unlike anything you've ever experienced in Atlanta. And yes, there's plenty of information to back that bold statement up, but once you walk inside the King Plow restaurant and see for yourself, you'll immediately understand what I mean. First, you'll see the LED-lit plexiglass bar brightly glowing from below the surface. As you take your seat, you might notice that there's something a bit different about the menu... ah, that's right. It's not on paper. It's an iPad. One on which you can order your drinks and food whenever you're ready. Got an opinion on the dining room's music? Vote on the playlist on your iPhone. And once you're sitting in that comfy white booth or at a table, you'll soak up the atmosphere of the L.A. skyline, a Caribbean beach, the Colosseum, or whatever wraparound video imagery happens to be projected on the walls around you (a quite literal "change of scenery"). See what I mean about that whole "unique experience" thing? Everything from the waitstaff to the kitchen system all the way down to the bathrooms are creatively unconventional, to say the least.
But Do isn't just a playground for technophiles and design geeks: the food itself is just as creative and innovative as the rest of the restaurant. The main act of the menu are the personal-sized pizzas, which include an array of unique combinations but somehow remain light and non-bloat-inducing—just order the creamy garlic and shrimp "Maestro," and see if you can stop yourself from devouring the whole thing. Other numbers include some irresistibly cheesy garlic bites, a handful of flatbreads, and of course the grand finale, dessert. (I tried the "Romance," Do's take on strawberry shortcake, and was smitten.) With so many tasty options to choose from, it might seem overwhelming, but just take that iPad by the horns and start ordering. You've got a world of flavor at your fingertips.
