Brown's BBQ

50% off Brown's BBQ
"No one can do a better job than we do." With a statement like that, you better have the goods to back it up. And after tasting some of Brown's smoky, juicy, meaty goodness (and equally delicious sides), I can vouch for it.
"No one can do a better job than we do." With a statement like that, you better have the goods to back it up. And after tasting some of Brown's smoky, juicy, meaty goodness (and equally delicious sides), I can vouch for it. The restaurant may have just recently opened up, but the folks behind Brown's BBQ have been doing their thing all around the Atlanta area for a couple years now at farmers markets and festivals. Needless to say, these 'cue experts aren't new to the game—especially Marvin, the head meatmaster in charge who grew up in North Carolina and was raised in the Carolina tradition of good barbecue. Fans of the vinegar-based Carolina style will go to town on Brown's N.C. sauce, but if your fancy tends toward the ketchup-based, you have three more to choose from—all homemade, of course.

"Nothing comes from a box," says co-owner Randi, "and we don't have a microwave anywhere in the kitchen." From veggies to baked beans to desserts, everything at Brown's is made from scratch and with love. All those juicy meats come straight out of the wood smoker, even the burgers, wings, and hotdogs, which has made Brown's smoky burger just as popular as their sliced brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. And this isn't your typical grimy hole-in-the-wall joint, either. Marvin describes it best as "ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen"—but before you whip out your top hat or opera gloves, know that the atmosphere here is communal, comfortable, and familial. "We want everyone here to feel like they're eating in someone's home," Marvin told me as I gobbled down a pulled pork sandwich and a side of mac 'n cheese that could compete with my grandma's recipe. Yeah, that feels like home to me.
