Little Azio (Westside)
The quintessential neighborhood Italian restaurant: quick, casual, and come-as-you-are, but with enough charm, style, and wine to make a perfect little evening dinner.Fresh, homemade Italian fare that won't break the bank or the scale? It might sound far-fetched, but thanks to a menu of lighter, summer-ready dishes, Little Azio is making it easy to get your Italian fix. The casual neighborhood restaurant has become a favorite for Atlantans hungry for homemade pizzas, pastas, and salads in a laid-back environment, no reservations or dinner jackets required.
Traditional Italian food might often be equated with heavy-duty dishes (and empty wallets), but Little Azio's menu has plenty of lighter options for the warmer months. Jonesing for pizza but not quite all of the trappings? Chicken sausage and turkey pepperoni are delicious and flavorful add-ons, without feeling heavy, and can also be paired with Little Azio's gluten-free pizza dough. Lighter still are the pizza salads, with a perfectly tossed tricolor salad atop a fresh-baked thin crust pie. In fact, the salad menu alone is chock-full of wholesome dishes that are satisfying enough for a meal without feeling overly indulgent. Little Azio's insalata tricolore, with arugula, radicchio, and gorgonzola-walnut dressing, is delicious all by itself, but adding baked Atlantic salmon on top makes it even heartier. The fresh caprese salad, a personal favorite of mine, is simple, classic, and delicious. It's the quintessential neighborhood Italian restaurant: quick, casual, and come-as-you-are, but with enough charm, style, and wine to make a perfect little night (or morning) out. And with all those healthy, light summer dishes, you have no excuse not to save room for dessert.
