If the words "chocolate salted caramel" mean anything to you, you'll want to follow those wafting scents right inside and feast your eyes on the display case of fresh-baked, frosting-topped goodness. The success story behind this neighborhood bakeshop is almost as sweet as their red velvet cupcakes. After doing time in the corporate world, Denise recently made the move from cubicle to kitchen, and has been in the business of delighting tastebuds ever since. The cheerful little bakery is situated right on Main Street, and ever since they opened their doors two months ago, they've been filling downtown Tucker with the intoxicating aromas of made-from-scratch desserts. And if the words "chocolate salted caramel" mean anything to you, you'll want to follow those wafting scents right inside the front doors and feast your eyes on the display case of fresh-baked, frosting-topped goodness.
It's just about impossible to have a quandary that can't be solved with a homemade cupcake, and the cheery atmosphere inside Sweet Dee's (combined with the scent of buttercream) just reinforces those good vibes. The bright little bakeshop has a kids' seating area in the back and cafe tables in the front, making it the perfect spot to treat the youngins or treat yourself while, you know, working on your laptop. And "treat" is definitely the operative word here. The cupcakes at Sweet Dee's manage to strike that perfect (yet hard-to-master) balance of frosting and cake, neither top-heavy with a three-inch tower of buttercream, nor dry and skimping on the frosting. Hey, it ain't easy to achieve that golden ratio. Before you fog up the glass too much, take note: Sweet Dee's also lets you take the reins with "DYOD" (that's "design your own dessert") cupcakes. Choose your own cake (mmm, chocolate), filling (mmm, peanut butter), and frosting (mmm-mm-mmm buttercream), and the kitchen will whip up a sweet little masterpiece just for you. Though it honestly doesn't get much more masterful than Sweet Dee's red velvet cupcake, the crown jewel of the bakeshop's case. Don't even try to resist that rich, sweet delicacy—your sweet tooth will thank you.
