Chef Paolo Tondo and co-owner/sommelier Jasmin Reyes Scott aren’t skimping on the authenticity. From the recipes straight out of Florence (Chef Paolo’s hometown), to the dining room tables shipped over from Italy, everything here's the real deal.If the rustic candelabras or the mounted boar’s head weren’t enough to convince you that Taverna Fiorentina is putting out real-deal Tuscan grub, just take a bite (and be prepared to inhale the rest). Tucked away in a Vinings strip mall sits a neighborhood gem, doling out legit Italian food, made by a legit Italian chef. Chef Paolo Tondo and co-owner/sommelier Jasmin Reyes Scott aren’t skimping on the authenticity, from recipes straight out of Florence (Chef Paolo’s hometown), to the dining room tables, shipped over from Italy. And it’s that genuine Italian mangia (along with some pretty amazing customer service) that’s bringing the regulars in, week after week.
Whether you’re in the mood for something light (the octopus carpaccio, perhaps?) or sidling up to a plate of risotto and a glass of Jasmin’s carefully curated vino, the menu and wine list are nothing to balk at. With 25 years of restaurant experience, Paolo knows his way around a bowl of pasta, and Jasmin’s sommelier certification makes her equally qualified to pour you a libation you’ll love. And if you don’t see something you like on the menu (yeah, like that is going to happen), just request what you want. The pair kept the size of the restaurant intentionally intimate to allow for customization. Regulars have been known to create their own dishes (which are often subsequently named for their inventor), and if you’re picking from the menu, you honestly can’t go wrong with squid ink linguine. So whether you come in for the ambience, the authentically Italian eats, or a crisp glass of white, you’re sure to fall in love.
