Aaaand, how about that love affair you with braised oxtail falling off the bone, followed by Godiva chocolate mousse? I think we're all together on that one. Mingles Martini Bar & Grill is a sexy little spot tucked away in Downtown with all of the above. Indulge in decadent Southern-ish food, sip from a variety of creative cocktails and even show off those dance moves when the night falls. Dare we say it, Mingles just may just bring the sexy back to Downtown. Thanks for that one, Timberlake.
I love a good, unexpected find in the heart of Downtown orat least&151;on Courtland Street in the middle of all the enormous hotels. And that’s exactly what Mingles is. You’ll strut in off the street into a large, open space with sassy red décor, long tables just waiting for a raucous birthday or bachelorette party, and plush leather couches waiting for you to plop your tail feather into. Yeah, that's right: tail feather. It's around this time that you’ll spot Bob. As in, Mr. Marley. He's just hanging out, all cool-like, on the back red wall in a larger than life framed photo. And right next to him is another king: Elvis Presley. Which is expected because they totally would've been friends, right? After giving Bob a nod, I caught wind of a tall, colorful drink called the Bob Marley, and considering I was going to order the jerk chicken, it seemed fitting.
So while the vibe is relaxed, you can’t quite look over the sexy. (Remember? Timberlake?) The martini selection has serious sex appeal from the peach to the lemon drop to the whipped cream pie. And, I can’t forget about those braised oxtails, or the double cut pork chops in a pineapple glaze. As for sultry desserts, Mingles has those, too. Hello, Krispy Kreme Rum Raisin Bread Pudding. And, after all is said and done (as in, the food is consumed), make your way from the table to the red leather couches and digest before hitting the dance floor. There's DJ music on Friday night, and a live band on Saturday night just begging you to get out there. Really, I can’t think of a better place to eat, lounge and show of my dance moves, with Bob and Elvis watching over me.
