This comfy, exotic place right on the Square offers up authentic Lebanese and Egyptian fare alongside over 70 fresh hookah flavors. Dine like a Pharaoh.Stop. This is a public service announcement. Sort of. How's about, instead of meeting up with your friends (homies, etc) at the coffee shop, you check out something a little more cultured. Something a little more Egyptian. Because at Laziza, right on the Marietta Square, they serve up a mean cup o' Turkish Coffee, nothing like the burnt roast you're used to. It's a strong brew, one that comes with a sprinkling of cardamom. And when you've drank it to the last drop? Turn that sucker upside down – and they'll read your fortune in the coffee lines. This family-owned joined is bursting with fresh, authentic grub, after all. It'd be a shame if the libations didn't match.
The interior is a luscious, comfy space – with floor cushions and wooden seats. In muted earthy tones and exotic decor, it doesn't feel like something you'd find smack dab in the center of Marietta, and that's what we love about it. Afaf is the cook extraordinaire, and she slings some of the most legit Egyptian and Lebanese fare around. With a lunch buffet in addition to an extensive menu, finding a new vessel for your cumin and paprika obsessions should be no problem at all. (We're partial to that Baba Ghanouge and homemade pita bread, for starters.) They use fresh ingredients on the daily, and unlike many other restaurants – every dessert you choose to sup upon is made in-house. And of course (how could we forget?): hookah. That's over 70 fresh flavors – fresh, as in, made from real fruit.
