- West Midtown
This is the sort of cozy neighborhood outdoor shop where you come for the full-service bike tune-ups, and stay for the hardcore gear browsing.Once the weather's warmed up, and the ice pops start flowing like some sort of frozen (and delicious) milk and honey, we know that it's time to dust off our fair-weather hobbies. Like bicycling, for starters. Luckily, the friendly folks at The Gear Revival are more than happy to fulfill all of our cycling dreams. Owner Mitch, who spent most of his youth out-of-doors, opened shop in 2006 after he traded two-person tents for a three-bedroom home. And now he provides people with the tools required for their outdoor adventuring in his colorful yet laid-back gear shop. This includes, of course, keeping bicycles in tip-top gear. Which is why he's set up a nifty little bike repair corner to the left—here we find passionate, capable mechanics, like the Shimano-TEC-certified Diego, working their cycling magic to keep our rides shifting smoothly, stopping quickly and riding as efficiently as possible.
Suffice to say, after dropping our bike off, we knew it would be in fine running order when we picked it up a few days later. In Diego's hands, it would receive the full tune-up treatment: brake, hub and bottom racket adjustment, drivetrain cleaning and inspection, as well as some special attention for the wheels. Because, getting us ready for biking season? That's how they roll.
