Welp, turns out we've been pushing vegetables around our plates to make it look like we ate more than we actually did for no good reason. Here's to the fresh fish, chicken and, yes, vegetables that taste as good as they are for you.
Bonehead's all began with a simple idea: going out for dinner shouldn't involve choosing between a batter-slathered slab of subpar fish or a greasy burger. Instead, it should be tasty and healthy, which just so happens to be the exact philosophy of Ron and Nancy, the owners of Bonehead’s Grill. This husband and wife duo has impressed Brookhaven residents with the grill’s healthful take on one of the day’s most important meals, as well as introduced a new spice into their lives—piri-piri. This peppery mix isn't too hot, but packs a boxing kangaroo-like punch of flavor to the grilled-up chicken and fish (the salmon and grouper come highly recommended). And even veggies, like asparagus and zucchini, get the piri-piri treatment, transforming them from green things we used to push to the edges of our plates to main-course worthy meals. Plus, as noted, it’s all healthy. Several dishes are gluten-free and almost everything meets both the American Heart Association and diabetic guidelines. (What greasy burger joint can claim that?)

Not to be outdone is the atmosphere, which feels warm and homey. Part of that’s because Bonehead's Grill is truly a family affair (Ron and Nancy's 16-year-old twins also work at the eatery). It’s also because the owners know their regulars and treat first-timers like us as if we already were regulars.

Finally, a protip: don't be intimidated by the parking. We've discovered that there's both daytime parking behind the restaurant building and nighttime parking in the public parking deck, both free of charge and downright handy, if you ask us. Because after eating such a healthy dinner, we know we won’t feel the need to walk it off.
