Taqueria del Mar

50% off Taqueria del Mar
There's a reason the seafood at this taqueria is so different from the chains and franchises nearby: Andrew knows how to fish where the fish are. After spending years as a seafood broker, he knows exactly where & when to nab the freshest possible goods.
Sure, it's 300 miles to the nearest ocean, and another couple thousand or so to our little surf shack in Oaxaca. But despite being geographically challenged, this little "taqueria by the sea" sure feels (and tastes) like we're digging in to the daily catch on the sands of Cabo. (When we close our eyes, we can almost hear the sounds of the sea's crashing waves coming from... Peachtree Parkway.)

After more than two decades in the Atlanta restaurant world, Andrew, the owner of this new taco joint, decided to take matters into his own hands and craft his dream of a seaside taqueria with his own two hands. The taqueria's chef-owner built the place from the ground-up this past spring, from the bar (made of recycled wooden pallets) to the Coca-Cola bottle pendant lighting hanging overhead. And that vintage-industrial aesthetic is, yes, pretty dang awesome… but even better? The goods that Andrew's crafting behind that oh-so-cool reclaimed wood counter.

There's a reason the seafood at this little taqueria is so different from the chains and franchises up and down Peachtree Parkway: Andrew knows how to fish where the fish are. Literally. After spending years as a seafood broker, he can tell you exactly where (and when) to nab the freshest sushi-grade tuna or Gulf shrimp, and he took that expertise straight to Taqueria del Mar's kitchen. His knowledge of fresh ingredients doesn't stop at seafood, though: from the short rib to the homemade salsas to the fresh-squeezed margaritas, each dish is made with the freshest goods Andrew can source. And even though we're partial to the fish taco, we must divulge: those enchiladas might be the best thing on the menu. Our little secret, mmmkay?
