The Fish Spot

100% off one fish taco at The Fish Spot
Stuffed to the, er, gills with grilled, fried or blackened fresh fish, then slathered in a delicious, tangy house-made slaw and remoulade, the fish tacos are perhaps the Fish Spot's most beloved dish (well, that and the homemade cinnamon cornbread).
Things Atlanta has an overabundance of: tourists on Segways, streets named after fruit, unjust parking tickets. Things Atlanta seriously lacks: decent public transit, jetpacks, or more than a handful of good places to indulge a seafood craving. Fish Spot might not be able to fix MARTA or rid us of the Segway plague, but they've got that whole seafood thing on lock. In an area not too populated with places to get your seafood fix, this tiny little restaurant is a beacon of fresh fish, shrimp and a mean fish taco, using from-scratch recipes and strictly fresh ingredients that hit the spot. And now, on the heels of their first anniversary, they're taking things up a notch.

With an expanded menu, a new chef manning the kitchen and a well-deserved herd of loyal regulars, Toby tells us he's ready to take his little Stone Mountain eatery to the next level. Chef Jackson, who's spent nearly two decades in the food industry, has overhauled the Fish Spot's menu, adding plates like shrimp 'n grits, crab legs and more. Fear not: the tacos are safe and sound, and they're not going anywhere. Stuffed to the, er, gills with grilled, fried or blackened fresh fish, then slathered in a delicious, tangy house-made slaw and remoulade, they're perhaps the Fish Spot's most beloved dish (well, that and the homemade cinnamon cornbread). And while the restaurant is steadily getting better and better, they're not letting all that success go to their head—owners Toby and Sharon are still sticking to their original goal to offer folks in the area a place to get quality, consistent, affordable food where freshness is the highest priority. As simple as it sounds, it's a downright noble mission. Consider us hooked.
