At the now-permanent location of free fab'rik the sale of gently-used items, which range in price from $2 to $20, funds boutique-style shopping experiences for girls and women in need. Retail therapy, you've met your match.
While sorting through tightly-packed racks of gently used and not-so-gently-used clothing can be a delightful way to wile away the afternoon, sometimes, thrift shopping? It's, erm, not so delightful. (Musty smells and awkward stains, anyone?) Luckily for our wallets and free time, Dana, the founder of fab'rik is here to start a whole new kind o' thrift store experience. Yes, experience. We're talkin' cozy seating, high-style clothing and low-end prices — all in a boutique environment. Dana's hope is to, "create a boutique where everyone can afford to feel beautiful."

The non-profit thrift boutique, dubbed free fab'rik grew from its humble beginnings in 2009, in an effort to provide a taste of boutique shopping (including volunteer stylists), sans fretting over price tags. Dana's loyal customers donated over 400 bags packed with classy, clean and previously loved clothing, and after putting the donated clothing in and out of fabr'rik for these sprees, Dana realized that free fab'rik needed its own home. And now, in the same location that was previously Midtown's fab'rik, Dana is doing just that. A true-blue boutique thrift store (that is to say, open to the public), it will also be holding frequent and regular shopping sprees for girls in need, focussing on adding dignity to the shopping experience. Dana and Rachel (the store's new manager) hope to hold these sprees monthly with local non-profits and weekly 1-on-1 personal shopping experiences. And they are, as always, accepting donations for modern, fashionable clothing, jewelry, handbags and outerwear in good condition (no shoes or undergarments, please). But if you can't donate, shopping there helps, too. Take that, retail therapy.
