A windy city native, Bobby G’s job brought him to ATL about 23 years ago and for the last nine of those he's been serving up authentic Chicago-style pizza, hot dogs, Italian beefs and sausages to his ravenous Chicago guests. We approve wholeheartedly.More often then not, when a place claims to serve up authentic Chicago-style eats, well, we don't quite believe 'em. But Bobby G's is another story entirely. For the eponymous Bobby is different. A Windy City native (Go Bears!), Bobby G's job brought him to ATL about 23 years ago and for the last nine of those he's been serving up authentic Chicago-style pizza, hot dogs, Italian beefs, sausages and more to his ravenous Chicago guests. This is a place, his regulars say fondly, that is actually serving up their hometown classics. We're talkin' first rate Second City stuff. Classics are easily enjoyed while watching Chicago sports on one of the eleven large televisions, without being heckled by impassioned Falcons fans.
So when we stopped by, naturally, the pizza was of the utmost priority. For here it's served up with a razor-thin, crunchy crust and cut into squares, just like the pizza that Bobby G grew up eating at the pizzeria on his block. Da-Works is one of the most popular, with a steamy amalgam of sausage, pepperoni, olives, green peppers, mushrooms and onions; it's rivaled only by the traditional street-style sandwiches and hot dogs. We're talking the likes of Vienna all beef dogs, Italian Beef sandwiches and Italian and Polish sausages – none of which are your typical Southern fare. Well, they weren't, that is. Not until Bobby served up his own slice of the Jewel of the Midwest to us.
