After over a decade on Piedmont as one of Midtown's iconic neighborhood hangouts, the Gilbert's crew was ready to mix it up a little. Thus, G's was born: a classy yet convivial gastropub where the food's still top-notch (fear not; the faces in the kitchen are still the same), the chalkboard above the bar sports a mighty fine beer list and the cocktails have taken things to a whole 'nother level.
Knowing they were ready for a few ch-ch-ch-changes, the folks behind Gilbert's did the neighborly thing: they asked their regulars what they wanted in the 'hood. The (nearly unanimous) answer? A place with craft beers, creative cocktails and chef-driven comfort food. And the owners heeded their call. Gone is the menu of Mediterranean fare; in its place comes a lineup of creative riffs on pub classics—think pimento cheese wiz, iron skillet mac 'n steak, and a pimento bacon cheeseburger that might just be the perfect companion to an evening of imbibing. Speaking of imbibing: those aforementioned spiked frozen desserts alone are worth a trip to G's. Actually, make that several trips. Because, really, a place where we can play board games, play trivia or sing karaoke whilst slurping down an adult milkshake featuring Fireball whiskey and Cinnamon Toast Crunch is a place worthy of our undying loyalty.
