While they may toss together a mean salad and whip up perfectly circular macarons, Bleu House Market also has a smoker. And, boy, they aren't kidding around with it.Grandpa's house always feels a little different. A little comfier, cozier, homier. And at Bleu House Market, they've captured that nostalgic, breeze blowing gently through the curtains feeling. The fact that the market is in Nicole's great grandfather's house-turned-restaurant? Well, that certainly didn't hurt. But, never fear, it doesn't feel like you're awkwardly stumbling into someone else's grandparents' house. (For one, there is a marked lack of mothballs.) The pastel-hued, cheerfully decorated place just feels like... home. And that's because, while you'll find original hardwood floors that HGTV would swoon over, it's an open, historic spot with cushioned seats and couches. It's just one that you just happen to be able to smell coming down the block.
Because while they may toss together a mean salad and whip up perfectly circular macarons, Bleu House Market also has a smoker. And, boy, do they mean business. When they use smoked turkey on the Captain Nemo sandwich—it was magnificently flavorful and moist. You'll consistently find a rotating selection of smoked goods to pile onto their Bleu Plate lunch specials. If you're in more of a dinner mood, Bleu House offers a to-go, rotating menu that you can view months in advance. (You might want to jump on the teriyaki salmon—it goes fast.) While we'd struggle with putting Bleu House into one food genre, after some mild deliberation, it's likely that we'd settle on Southern Barbecue/New York Deli/Bakery. It would be impossible to leave out any of 'em—they do all three, and to perfection.
