A place where one can drink some of the best coffee in the world, enjoy a locally made macaron or pastry, and do it all knowing you're helping a worthy cause: heaven. When we first heard whispers of a hidden, semi-secret coffee shop situated right on the Chattahoochee River, complete with an unbelievably gorgeous view of the 'Hooch, we almost took it as urban myth. A cozy, mountain lodge-esque cafe where one could sit and enjoy a view like this… in the middle of Atlanta? About as likely as spotting a herd of centaurs trotting down the Connector—or so we thought. But Chattahoochee Coffee Company is, indeed, very real. And with a few recent changes to the cafe, this oasis has somehow managed to become even more idyllic.
Fresh off a recent name change (they were formerly known as Land Of A Thousand Hills Coffee) and a shake-up to their coffee program, Chattahoochee Coffee Company isn't just a place where one can sip a mug of joe in a beautiful setting: it's now a place where one can drink some of the best coffee in the world, enjoy a locally made macaron or pastry, and do it all knowing you're helping a worthy cause. After partnering with Counter Culture Coffee, a Southern roaster that searches the world over for the very best coffee, the shop has upped its coffee game to include custom French presses and pour-overs: music to (ahem) any coffee snob's ears. They've also amped up their non-coffee offerings by teaming up with local purveyors like Arden's Garden, the Cake Manor and XK Macarons. And, just when we were thinking this place truly and honestly couldn't get any better, owner Kylene informed us of the shop's commitment to social good-doing, which involves a rotating list of non-profit organizations benefitting from the cafe's efforts. "We've been able to become the coffee shop I've always dreamed of having," says Kylene. After sitting on that wraparound porch with a pour-over, an Earl Grey macaron, and a picturesque view of the river, we have to agree: this coffee shop is the stuff of which dreams are made.
