The owners of this cheery coffee house opened Hodgepodge to give their friends, neighbors, and fellow creative types a place to come together—whether said socializing happens over a piping-hot latte or a DIY craft project. When Lynne and Krystle took over an 80-year-old auto garage and transformed it into a sunny, cheerful cafe, they weren't doing it just for the coffee. (Though, thanks to locally roasted beans from Batdorf and Bronson, that's certainly a perk 'round here.) They did it to give their friends, neighbors, and fellow creative types a place to come together—whether said socializing happens over a piping-hot latte or a DIY craft project. With a schedule always packed with craft nights, open mic performances, art shows and the like, Hodgepodge celebrates creativity just as much as caffeine. And we're just about certain that there isn't another place quite like it in ATL.
The cheery coffee house is the antithesis of dark, hushed, library-like cafes, with sunshine streaming through the windows, kitschy, mismatched furniture lining the living room-like sitting areas, and even a small play area to keep the wee ones entertained (when it comes to kid-friendly coffee shops in ATL, Hodgepodge takes the cake). And of the coffee itself? It's top-notch stuff, roasted right here in town by Batdorf and Bronson. The cafe also whips up a delectable spread of biscuits, scones, and even gluten-free and paleo-friendly goodies like brownies and muffins. Oh, and did we mention the cafe now serves brunch on the weekends with goods like Cap'n Crunch French toast, Sriracha scrambled eggs, and tropical fruit sundaes on the menu? Honestly, Hodgepodge, you had us at coffee, creativity and camaraderie—but add Cap'n Crunch to the mix, and we're smitten.
