Next time you're itching for a trip to the islands but can't get away, stop in this swank Caribbean lounge for a Caribbean Rum Punch and some famous Jerk Chicken and relax. You're on island time now.You would think in the heart of downtown, a Caribbean retreat would be hard to come by. Not the case – nestled right on North Avenue is a little slice of Jamaican Paradise – reggae music in the air, clean white tile and rich, ornate dark wood bar – everything about Negril Village is captivating and relaxing. From the second you're greeted by the smiling, congenial waitstaff, or belly up to the bar for an icy, refreshing mojito, why, it's almost as if we're on a mini tropical vacation. And though there's no seaside breeze to be had for miles, if we close our eyes and breathe in deeply, we swear we can almost hear and smell the ocean. Goodbye, work week – we've found our one-way ticket to paradise.
This Caribbean chic restaurant and lounge is eagerly awaiting your arrival. The bright, classic décor, with ornate tile floors and lush, indoor greenery, will do wonders for your psyche (as will their full bar of rum cocktails and their packed menu of what they call “Savvy Caribbean Cuisine.” Menu favorites like the Jerk Treasure, a platter of spicy grilled salmon, shrimp, chicken and mussels in jerk sauce, or the Oxtail Stew (they had it before it was trendy) will easily whisk you away to a better place. Throw in a house cocktail like a Caribbean Rum Punch or a Mojito and may just never return. (Luckily we don't need a passport.)
