Forget flying shrimp and fiery grill fanfare, Rice Mac is about to make it a whole lot easier for us to satisfy our cravings for authentic hibachi and fresh Asian-fusion food.
Too long has hibachi been associated with inflated prices, cheesy puns and eyebrow-grazing columns of fire. Open flame and flying shrimp have their time and place, of course. A mid-workday lunch hour, however, isn’t exactly one of those times. Fortunately for us teriyaki addicts, Rice Mac is about to make it a whole lot easier to satisfy our cravings for freshly prepared Asian food. Along with robust lists of hibachi classics and Asian soups, they’re offering residents of the Emory area a tasty mix of Chinese and Thai menu items including Lo Mein, Pad Thai and other noodly varieties of nosh. So the next time you get a hankering for hibachi or orange chicken, rather than shoving off to the dimly lit Japanese steakhouse nearest you, head to Decatur’s newest Asian-fusion concept for fried rice and rich yum yum sauce without the hassle. Located in what used to be Pita House (may it RIP), Rice Mac underwent some serious remodeling before its grand opening. We think the sleek and stylish results (and the fluffy scoopfuls of rice they’re serving) were worth the wait, though. And the interior isn’t the only soothingly sleek aspect of this restaurant. Their meal combos come in some pretty snazzy bento-style packaging, too. Between the polished surroundings and the carefully compartmentalized cuisine, Rice Mac helps us address our body’s need for saucy Asian-fusion as well as our mind’s need for tidy organization, so we like to think of ‘em as the Mac Daddies of Zen.
