Go ahead, give it a whirl, especially if you’re a lover of the classic American lunch staple: chicken salad. Oh yes, Cafe at Pharr does it right, three different ways. Yup, we said three! Get a classic walnut chicken salad on a croissant for a savory and buttery treat at lunchtime, or get a little wild with some curry chicken salad. Our favorite? Inception your lunch and put chicken salad ON a salad. Mayonnaise can be a polarizing condiment- folks either love it or hate it. And for the ones who hate it, Cafe at Pharr’s chicken salad is a beacon of flavor- there’s very little mayo in it, so you can taste the actual chicken. Crazy, right? But if chicken’s not your thing, there's tuna salad, shrimp salad, and just regular salad salad, along with curry plates, soups and deli sandwiches. The menu is chock full of healthy options for lunch, and regular customers can’t stop gushing about the homemade ginger dressing.
Cafe at Pharr opened in Buckhead (yep, you guessed it, on Pharr Road) way back in 1993, and the Alpharetta location is owned by Johnny, the son of the original owners. And he’s carrying on the legacy of his parents in the form of an almost overlooked finishing touch: the famous Cafe at Pharr yogurt rolls. Yep, alongside your sandwich or salad, you’ll find two tiny pastry rolls filled with a yogurt concoction that’s a little sweet, a tiny bit tart and all delectable. The idea for yogurt rolls came from Johnny’s father, who didn’t want to throw out the scraps of dough when making croissants. So he improvised. And now you, dear Scouts, can be a part of the legacy too. You’re welcome.
