Help Keep Sopo's Wheels Turning
Sm_scoutfinds_mainimage1

Tucked back in EAV, a shop full of wrenches and spare parts is the homebase for one co-op that's trying to make it easier to swap out your four wheels for two. Sopo Bicycle Cooperative is a non-profit bike repair shop, where the Atlanta cycling community can donate parts and tools, fix their bikes, and help others do the same, in an effort to give easier access to cycling for all. The organization also provides programs for youngsters, bike rack installation for local businesses, and participates in the Earn-A-Bike program at the Taskforce for the Homeless.

Sounds pretty sweet, right? So you'll be pleased to learn, then, that there's a way you can help keep Sopo up and running for the community. The group's workshop space in East Atlanta won't be available for use next year, and SoPo is looking to us (yes, even you!) to help out. Taking a sponsored bike ride, either solo or with friends, to help SoPo relocate and keep the wheels turning, so to speak. And what with Atlanta's traffic situation and, ah, limited public transit options, more and more people are taking to the pedal. SoPo's working to make this affordable, accessible, and sustainable for riders. How about we help 'em out?
