In the usual context, discussions about or with Atlanta artist Mike Germon would normally revolve around his visual art, his collages and installations at galleries like Mint and Beep Beep, and possibly his jaunty baseball cap. But recently, Mike decided to take things a step outside the gallery. And lucky for all of us, we can wear his artistic talent with pride.
Accelerated Expansion: Iteration 2 is Mike's attempt to take his work out of the (proverbial) walls and make it wearable for everyone, a move away from the often-inaccessible nature of the visual arts. With the shirts, Mike takes found visual elements and re-shapes them within a different context. Also? They're super awesome. (That is not part of Mike's artist statement.)
The shirts will be printed by local raddest-of-rad, direct-to-garment printshop Fallen Arrows, who have a solid history of partnering with great Atlanta galleries and organizations. You can snap up one of Mike's splendid sartorial creations right here, and feel confident in knowing that you're wearing some sweet art on your sleeve.
