Meet Keith Weaver, Creative Director & iPhoneagrapher

Robot Unicorn Attack, Hipstamatic, I Am T-Pain... oh, and that Scoutmob thang: there’s an app for all that and all your other daily awesome needs. It was only a matter of time before we could find an iPhone lover who does more than just pass the time with his device. Keith Weaver, a Creative Director at local agency Razorfish, is gearing up to embark on a personal pet project with his mobile phone. 10x20: AN IPHONEOGRAPHY ADVENTURE AROUND THE WORLD. is his mission to capture the world with his 4.8 ounce companion and a genuine enthusiasm for the future of photography. We got a moment to learn a little bit about the artistic gadget guru for today's Creative iPhone Eye:

SCOUT: Howdy, Keith. Tell the world how people might know you and your work?
KEITH: Most people know me through the Atlanta creative and design community, which I’ve been a part of for almost 10 years. I love to take photos of interesting things I see around me with my iPhone. And everything I create is done exclusively on the phone through a select number of photo apps. Restricting myself to a mobile phone has allowed me to craft a voice and style that I wouldn’t have been able to do with traditional photography. It’s something I’ve just had a ton of fun with over the last three years.

SCOUT: Most Scoutmobbers are avid iPhone addicts and in no way seeking recovery. Tell us about iPhoneography in your own words?
KEITH: iPhoneography has democratized the whole genre of photography in a way that nobody could have ever predicted. It’s created a whole new method of raw, artistic, and human expression that can be captured and shared immediately with the world. iPhone is really the instant camera for the digital generation and has produced the perfect environment for a new creative movement in photography to emerge.

SCOUT: I love your modern outlook. So, can you pinpoint a photograph that started it all?
KEITH: The first photo I remember taking was a time-exposure shot of the town square where I lived as a kid. I was about 12 years old and it was for a local photo contest that my dad encouraged me to enter. I took it with his old Minolta 35mm camera. Ever since the day I watched my father develop prints in the bathtub of our apartment as a 4 year old, I’ve wanted to be a photographer.

SCOUT: Even as a wee little one, your imagination seemed infinite. And since then you have made something cool everyday. Where in Atlanta do you draw inspiration for new ideas?
KEITH: My children are a huge source of inspiration to me. Experiencing life with them brings me amazing happiness and reminds me of the magic of my own childhood. And that’s when the best ideas appear – when you can become a 5-year old again and let your imagination go.

SCOUT: We know you’ve dabbled in a lot of creative outlets. Any chance you can you pick your favorite project you have done thus far in Atlanta?
KEITH: Definitely the iPhone project I’m working on right now that’s taking me to ten cities around the world.

SCOUT: I’m sure it wouldn’t impose if I tag along, right? Sweet. So when we aren’t off jet-setting in the name of new photography, where in Atlanta do you go to kick back and relax with a nice drink and good company?
KEITH: Octane, Carroll Street Café, Six Feet Under Westside are three of my favorites.

SCOUT: All great Scoutmob-approved choices. Tell us your favorite “curious find” in Atlanta?
KEITH: I recently found and bought a 1960s Danish teak desk in the basement of Highland Row that had the designer’s signature underneath one of the drawers. I’m still trying to find out who it is.

SCOUT: There is nothing like a vintage gem with a good story as the cherry on top. Who is another local Atlantan that inspires you or your work?
KEITH: Some of my favorite photos in the last two years have been taken while I was listening to Deerhunter. Thanks guys.

SCOUT: You should tell them in person. How does your family feel about your current project?
KEITH: 10x20: AN IPHONEOGRAPHY ADVENTURE AROUND THE WORLD is an idea I came up with over Christmas break last year and has just been an unbelievable journey so far. And as I'm documenting my adventures in each place with my iPhone, my wife has been very supportive of it. Especially since she’s coming on some of the trips with me.

SCOUT: She’s a lucky lady - we admire your gusto. Finally, throw out a shameless plug of where people can go to check out more of your creations:
