Ahhh, Labor Day Weekend. Time to pack away your summer whites as a ritual hint to Mother Nature to "Cool it already!" Though, let's be honest: summer really isn't over around these parts for at least another month or so. And so on this so-called "last party of the summer", you might want to consider a stay-cation. From the looks of it, there's way too much fun stuff going on in town to be skipping off to some exotic beach somewhere.
WE DON'T WANT TO MISS:
DRAGON*CON
September 3 through 6
If you understand what it means to party like it's your last night on Alderaan, you've probably been looking forward to this weekend since last year's Dragon*Con. Even if you're a pseudo-fan of Sci-Fi (or of costumed freaks in general...pictured), may we recommend at least stopping through to witness as Wookies, Transformers, Storm Troopers, Green Lanterns, overweight superheroes, and scantily-clad women descend upon Atlanta. The main parade kicks off Saturday at 10 a.m., the after-party congregates at the Downtown Marriott Marquis, and the party don't stop 'til George Lucas says so.

ALSO WORTH CHECKING OUT:
ST2ST EDGEWOOD BLOCK PARTY
September 5, 2 p.m. 'til 2 a.m.
If we had to pick a place to hold a block party along with the perfect hosts for the occasion, we'd probably choose the corner of Edgewood and Boulevard along with the fellas over at The Sound Table to pull it all together. Lucky for us because that's exactly what's happening this Sunday. ST2ST is their first annual Labor Day partay: a hipster smorgasbord of local street food vendors, live art, and some sick DJs playing well into the wee hours of our national holiday's morn.
