Last Sunday, Danneman's Coffee celebrated their "Last Supper". But don't think you've seen the last of the local-favorite coffee shop. Instead, it's being resurrected as a new kind of 'Church' concept.
As reported by What Now, Atlanta?, "Grant Henry (AKA, Sister Louisa) leased the space and is in process launching his concept: Sister Louisa's Church of the Living Room and Ping Pong Emporium... Come On In, Precious!" And if you're wondering what a name like that could entail for a former coffee shop, think: plenty of Sister Louisa art, a couple ping pong tables, music, a full bar of spirits, and fellowship, of course. Lots and lots of fellowship.
If you don't know Sister Louisa's style, then maybe you'd recognize her alter-ego, Grant Henry, as a longtime bartender at Poncey-Highland's favorite watering hole, The Local. Or perhaps as the crazy cohort of another Scoutmob favorite, author Hollis Gillespie. And if anyone knows how to transform this unique and historic space into something even better than our beloved coffee spot, it would be Grant... err, Louisa. Or both of them with their heavenly powers combined.
Sister Louisa's 'Church' of the Living Room and Ping Pong Emporium will offer coffee, lunch, desserts, upstairs Ping Pong and music, and a place of community gathering in the Old Fourth Ward from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.
And since we totally dig all things Ping Pong, O4W, Danneman's (R.I.P.), early morning coffee and late night drinks, and - of course - Sister Louisa, you better believe we'll be there with our Pong paddles ready as soon as her heavenly gates open for business.
