We've trekked through the mire of our first week of resolutions – waking up at unseemly hours to head to yoga classes before work, paying unseemly amounts for gym memberships we'll only use a handful of times. Heck, we even bundled ourselves up and went for a run in the frigid evenings (and came back with sweatcicles in our hair). Whenever we start to question how long we'll be able to keep this up, we turn to our inspiration: the fitness gurus of Atlanta. Turns out even they give into their burger cravings at times. Here's the scoop on where some of our local fitness champs go to eat well, and where they go to eat not-so-well. Nobody's perfect, after all.

Tara Joiner, Pink Barre
Could you tell us a bit about yourself, Pink Barre and what it's all about?
I have always been passionate about health and fitness and connecting like-minded people.  Pink Barre is the intersection of those passions where we can take a relatively new form of exercise, barre, and build communities of women in an inspiring and empowering way. Pink Barre aims to bring a new workout experience to Atlanta through beautifully designed studios and highly talented instructors. Atlantans can experience the real benefits of barre, which integrates elements of pilates, yoga, and strength training, in a social, musical way.
What are your favorite dishes or restaurants in Atlanta for eating clean/keeping it healthy?
When working at our Buckhead studio, I absolutely love Café Jonah.  Their sense of community is an inspiration for our Pink Barre studios. General Muir’s smoked trout salad is a killer healthy option for our Emory Point visitors.
We can't be good all the time, right? When you're ready to give into the dark side, what's your go-to?
When I need to indulge I go back to my New York City pizza roots, settling in at Varasano's pizza bar with a Chica Bella pizza (all for me) followed by their amazing homemade Italian donuts for dessert! Heavenly!

Leslie Abrams, Yoga With Friends
Could you tell us a bit about yourself, your yoga practices and what they're all about?
My name is Leslie. I live in Cabbagetown and have been teaching yoga for three years and practicing for 12. It is my deepest passion. Four months ago, I started a mobile yoga business called Yoga With Friends. It is all about gathering your favorite people in an indoor/outdoor space of your choice and engaging in the inspiring practice of yoga. Being supported by the ones who surround you creates magic every time! My style of teaching incorporates a channeling of the group energy in order to recognize what it needs. I encourage intention and awareness throughout the practice in order to cultivate self- knowledge out in the world. Your experience on the mat is a reflection of your life off of it.
What are your favorite dishes or restaurants in Atlanta for eating clean/keeping it healthy?
When I am feeling heavy and yearning for some clean digesting, I love to take an invigorating stroll to Arden's Garden to sip on an earthy Power Fuel smoothie. I also really enjoy the salad selection at Folk Art and Yeah! Burger. I love knowing that I am eating local and clean from a place that serves with love.
We can't be good all the time, right? When you're ready to give into the dark side, what's your go-to?
Oh, the dark side. It important to not be too rigid with yourself. If you decide to break, make sure you do it with self-compassion and the determination to get back on the light path. I always enjoy surrendering to a Little's burger and fries (come back soon, Little's burger!) I also enjoy a good high gravity beer (or three) from the Argosy or eating a whole entire XOXO dark chocolate bar in one sitting.

Steve Walker, Owner of BTB Crossfit Chamblee
Could you tell us a bit about yourself, your business and what it's all about?
I started out with Crossfit around four years ago, when I joined BTB in Buckhead. Before that I didn't do much to stay in shape. The Crossfit bug bit me and I became pretty obsessed with it for about a year. After that I began to coach. After two and a half years of it I partnered with BTB to open my own gym.
What are your favorite dishes or restaurants in Atlanta for eating clean/keeping it healthy?
I really believe that you can eat clean anywhere. Honestly, I spend a lot of time at Waffle House – I like to order a ribeye, three eggs, tomato slices and coffee. I'm a huge meat eater, so any steakhouse is good in my book – Two Urban Licks especially. I'm also a big fan of Abattoir, Farm Burger and of course Grindhouse.
We can't be good all the time, right? When you're ready to give into the dark side, what's your go-to?
Café Intermezzo for pasta and dessert – it's out of control. Really, I just head straight for the dessert case. Baraonda has a ridiculous lasagna that is just delicious. I'm a big fan of CamiCakes too. Usually I go for either their Classic Cami (white cake, pink frosting) or the chocolate on chocolate. I love chocolate.

Shirley Hughes Former Figure Competitor and Owner of Sweet Cheats
Could you tell us a bit about yourself, your exercise practices and what they're all about?
My name is Shirley Hughes and I am the owner/baker of Sweet Cheats, a small bakery that specializes in single-serving desserts. Now that the crazy holiday season has ended, I can resume my normal workout schedule of going to the gym three to four times a week. I used to be a figure competitor in the world of Bodybuilding so I like to do high intensity interval training workouts.

What are your favorite dishes or restaurants in Atlanta for eating clean/keeping it healthy?
My favorite restaurants in Atlanta for eating clean and healthy would be Urban pL8, MetroFresh or Seasons 52. They are very accommodating when you need to make changes to make it even cleaner.

We can't be good all the time, right? When you're ready to give into the dark side, what's your go-to?
There is always a cheat meal built into any good healthy food plan.  If I’m not cheating with something I have in our bakery (hence the name Sweet Cheats!) I like to go elsewhere. I love Rathbun’s Steak for their filet or duck with the fried lobster fritters! (All I can say is YUM!)
