Pie is a long-standing American tradition – and a delicious one at that. Pie brings together communities, gets rid of stress and ends of wars! (Okay, okay... maybe not the latter but definitely the former. Over here in ATL, we got some amazing bakeries rolling up their sleeves and serving up crowds, one slice at a time. Pies take a lot of patience, love and well, chemistry. The quality of the Ingredients and their temperature are the difference between Frankenstein and a delicious pie. Summer is a great time to stop by the joints, with peaches, rhubarb, plums -- the list goes on -- you are bound to find your favorite slice of goodness.
So, grab your scoop of ice cream and head over to these temples of flaky crusts and fruity custards.
The Pie Shop
If you are looking for the classics with a twist, The Pie Shop is the place to be. Their menu constantly rotates with specials like Coke Chess pie and Cookies ‘n Cream pie but you can also dig into some Key Lime Pie and a personal favorite, Coconut Cream Pie. Made with vanilla custard and organic coconut flakes, the Coconut Cream will make your neck hair curl up from the flavor combinations. Currently in Buckhead, The Pie Shop will opening a Virginia Highlands location soon so make sure to stop by and grab a slice.

The Pie Place
For those without a sweet tooth, That Pie Place is the perfect stop for savory pies with a flaky buttery crust. From Philly Cheesesteak and Cordon Bleu to Buffalo Chicken, these pies are finger lickin’ good. All pies are made with natural ingredients, as you should, and made daily -- honoring the pie tradition lords. Choose from the 20 in-house favorites for your lunch and grab a little treat to-go, maybe a cherry or s’mores pie? We are partial to the s’mores pie. What can we say? It’s that hot fudge.

The Pie Hole
A bit like walking into your grandma’s kitchen, window sill and all, The Pie Hole will fulfill your pie dreams and maybe your giggles for the day with their quirky web address, Open Your Pie Hole. While their daily offerings change daily, any place that offers multiple types of Chess Pies is a winner in my book. This firm custard pie can be packed with as many flavors as you’d like. For them, lemon, chocolate and the always comforting buttermilk. Can’t decide between two pies? Grab a half of each and make your own. We suggest munching on half Coconut and half Mango Key Lime. It’s a winner.

Panbury's Double Crust Pies
This pastry palace is cozied up in the Sweet Auburn Curb Market and is serving up the good stuff one pie at a time. The best part about Panbury's Double Crust Pies? They're meant to be eaten with your hands. An idea imported straight from South Africa –their savory pies are now the things we dream of morning, noon and night. (Pro-tip: It's perfectly acceptable to eat them at any of those hours, too.) We're partial to the Steak & Stout ourselves, but their Mediterranean Veggie never fails to please either.
