When it comes to challenging our brethren to a little friendly competition over a brew, our city jubilantly encourages our competitive side. In turn, we’ve rounded up the coolest spots around ATL to get both our drink and our game on. For all you n00bs out there, you won’t need any cheat codes to get you to the top of this leader board. Think you can beat our high score? Challenge accepted. (Our hoops are on fire – don’t say we didn’t warn you.)

Joystick Gamebar
Amongst Edgewood’s diverse avenue of hip Atlanta bars sits a stylish little game bar that encourages us to relive our youth with the most classic of arcade games like Donkey Kong, Ms. Pacman and Space Invaders – all while humbly boasting an impressive cocktail menu. It’s a great place to release our inner gamer – which should come pretty easy after a few drinks.

Ormsby’s
Within its pleasantly humble confines, we like to comfortably sit back in this speakeasy style bar enjoy a plethora of traditional games like: Backgammon, darts, pool, shuffleboard, pinball, bocce, Jenga and … pretty much all of our favorite board games. Perfect for when we get bored of sitting around our apartments drinking beer and playing yet another game of Circle of Death, these guys step in and offer all of our favorite party games as well as a top-notch craft beer collection. Also, it’s pretty darn fun getting weird with a game of Cards Against Humanity. Plus, you can always invite other local game bar go-ers into the fun– which makes for a delightfully hilarious way to get punchy and make some new friends.

Game-X Atlanta
This is the kind of place our inner-child can really thrive – it’s like a super rad Chuck E’ Cheese for adults (by which we mean, they’ve got booze). Happily, these guys offer the latest high-def gaming experiences of every ilk. After all, where else can you ride a snowmobile in Georgia? These super high-tech simulation games bring a whole to meaning to “get your head in the game.” Especially when we go in on the full-on hunting excursion via 80” screen, when we race friends on motorcycles, or satisfy our need for speed in one of the many driving simulators.

Battle and Brew
For all you die-hard video game aficionados, head just a few miles north of Atlanta into Marietta to Battle and Brew. Focusing heavily on top of the line gaming, these guys will make you feel like the virtual world is more of a reality – in the best way. Pioneers in “geek trivia” and host of a bevy of other awesome events like Anime night, the folks at Battle and Brew really know how to make the gaming world manifest into one big, multi-player party.

Think you got skills? Level up, playa’! And when you trek out on your next quest into the city, share your gaming experience with us on Facebook or Twitter
