If you’re (Samantha) jonesin’ for a little New York style in Austin, look no further than Gallery D in Downtown Austin’s 2nd Street District. If you’re (Samantha) jonesin’ for a little New York style in Austin but only coming up with Slacker, look no further than Gallery D in Downtown Austin’s 2nd Street District. Before swanky neighbors W Hotel, Violet Crown Cinema and ACL Live even existed, Gallery D set anchor on the downtown shores with its fashionable but affordable boutique collection. Opened in 2009 by Emily Keast, the store was a way to bring Lower Manhattan fashion to Austin for a fraction of the price. Trendy, but comfortable clothing is not all they offerGallery D is also an art gallery! How many clothing stores leave you feeling both fashionable AND cultural, huh?
Gallery D’s bright open space, minimalist design and flashes of color are like an instant mental enema. Once you step foot in the store, you realize that your daily worries were checked back at the door. You’re greeted with a smiling face and a one-on-one customer service that only boutiques can offer. The store’s collection ranges from casual chic to business flirty to nighttime romantic to sexy denim (an absolute must in this town) and fits well within the Austin woman’s budget. When the ladies of Gallery D aren’t taking care of your fashion needs, they’re throwing art shows, charity events and girls’ night outs. Sounds like the perfect fodder for a (Texan) Carrie Bradshaw column.
